Composite Tooth Bonding

Composite Tooth BondingDr. Carol Jin of San Ramon offers composite tooth bonding to help correct small dental imperfections. Bonding is a non-invasive alternative to veneers, and can be used as a restorative procedure for teeth that are:

  • Chipped
  • Cracked
  • Discolored
  • Crooked
  • Gapped

How Does Composite Bonding Work?

Your tooth is prepared for the procedure by lightly etching the surface and applying a bonding liquid. Once the liquid sets, a plastic resin is applied and sculpted into the desired shape by Dr. Jin. Unlike corrections made with metal amalgams, we can match this resin to your current tooth color. This helps this tooth restoration technique blend in seamlessly with the rest of your smile. Once set, the resin is trimmed, smoothed and polished to a natural appearance.

Special Tooth Bonding Considerations

The bonding procedure can often be completed in a single visit to our office, and can improve the appearance of your teeth significantly. However, since the plastic resin used is not as strong as your natural tooth enamel, it is better suited to smaller areas in need of dental repairs. Bonding typically lasts three to five years before any repair is needed.
