Tooth Pain

Tooth pain or a toothache is no laughing matter. Tooth pain can be caused by repetitive motions such as chewing or grinding your teeth, but it might also be a symptom of a more serious problem. A damaged filling, decay or even a fractured tooth can all cause discomfort. There are varying forms of discomfort including a constant throbbing pain or in other cases it may only hurt when pressure is applied to the tooth. If you have been experiencing tooth pain for more than one or two days or if you have a fever along with your tooth pain, please call the office of Dr. Carol Jin immediately.

Jaw Pain

As with tooth pain, there are several things that can cause jaw pain. Misalignments, arthritis, or a dental abscess can all cause jaw pain. Temporomandibular joint disorder or TMJ is the most common cause associated with jaw pain. TMJ can be caused by grinding your teeth during sleep and can also because by habitual nail biting. It is imperative to be checked by a dental professional like Dr. Carol Jin.

Gum Pain

Living with gum pain is often times uncomfortable and even unbearable. Typical problems that we associate with gum pain are sore, swollen, and bleeding gums. Often times swollen and bleeding gums indicate gum disease. Gum disease can occur from a lack of proper dental hygiene. Neglecting dental hygiene creates a build-up of bacteria that forms plaque on the teeth. Most people have a less severe form of gum disease called gingivitis. When gingivitis is left untreated, it can develop into periodontitis, which is a condition that causes the gums and the bone that hold your teeth in place to weaken. Periodontitis is a very serious issue that can lead to tooth loss. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, we recommend that you contact Dr. Carol Jin today.
