How Does Oral Sedation Work?
Oral sedation is given to the patient in the form of a small pill prior to their dental appointment. You must be driven to the dental office by another driver when this method is used. Once you arrive, you will be monitored to watch your vital signs and possibly given another pill depending on the level of comfort you are at before your dental treatment begins. You must also have a ride home from the dentist office after this procedure to ensure your saftey.
How Does Nitrous Oxide Sedation Work?
Dr. Carol Jin uses this method often with patients who want to reduce the pain and anxiety while having dental procedures done. Nitrous oxide is delivered through a nasal mask with oxygen to relax the patient during their procedure. Safe techniques are used when administering nitrous oxide including proper monitoring, equipment and storage unit to ensure that there are no leaks or excessive exposure.
